Goulburn’s Wakefield Park Raceway is the venue for this weekend’s (August 28 and 29) fourth and penultimate round of the 2010 NSW Formula Ford Championship and the racing is certainly going to provide plenty of action.

In what has been a two month break between rounds, the NSW Championship competitors are itching to get back into battle and the technical 2.2km Wakefield Park circuit is where that will all take place.

The battle in the ‘Championship’ class remains hotly contested and the current leaders are Anglo Australian Motorsport team-mates Richard Goddard and Adam Leung. In the past Goddard has always been strong around Wakefield Park but Leung, who has had a mixed run, is currently enjoying impressive form and is looking for a continuation of that. Aiming to take up the challenge to both Goddard and Leung at the pointy end of the field are the likes of Icon Motorsport’s Derryn Harrison, Ryan Campbell, Listec Racing’s Russell Newell, Emma Brown and the always competitive Daniel Lewis.

Synergy Motorsport driver Daniel Cotton is missing this weekend leaving the door open for Listec Racing’s Alan Price to grab the Fiesta class lead. He won’t have it all his own way with Synergy Motorsport Stefan Borsato keen to duplicate his race winning form from the last visit to Wakefield Park.

The ‘Pre-2000’ is one of the most hotly contested classes within this year’s NSW Championship and amongst the entries for this weekend’s round is a host of challengers. Amongst those challengers are the likes of current NSW Championship class leaders Darryl Hall and Jon Collins, along with Sue Hughes, Jon Collins’ mother, having her second outing aboard the Anglo Australian Motorsport Van Diemen. Having totally enjoyed her first outing last round at Eastern Creek Sue could not wait to get back onto the track.

Tom Tweedie, Doug Mately and David Grant lead the way in the ‘Classic’ class and will no doubt be mixing it with the newer machinery.

With a field of close to 20 entries, this weekend’s round shapes up to be hotly contested and looking over the fields in the individual classes within NSW Championship certainly proves that.

The penultimate round of the NSW Championship is scheduled to begin on Saturday with a qualifying session in the morning and the opening race in the afternoon, and then on Sunday the second race will be in the morning and then the third and final race is to be held in the afternoon.
