Motocross NSW State Team Ready To Impress On Home Soil

Tuesday 31 Aug 2010

As the reigning Interstate Challenge Cup Champions, the NSW State Team will once again field a strong team at this year's Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championships in September - but this time, on home soil.

With the Lakes club hosting this year's event, the NSW Team and staff converged on the Lakes track last Sunday in one last shake-down before the championships, and to finalize what is shaping up as one of the Strongest teams ever fielded by NSW.

Following some stella performances right across the 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW MX Championships, this year's rider line-up boasts a wide variety of riding styles and a depth from the youngest competitors, right through to the 15 years speedsters - most of which demonstrated their abilities at Sunday's training day, turning on some incredible riding worthy of an entry fee.

Steering the ship in the right direction, Matthew Boyd is once again at the helm as Team Coach, and with the success of last year, Boyd has set out to improve the finer details of last year's performances in hope of retaining the trophy.

"The day went really well. I think a lot of these kids really gained some valuable training tools today and most were riding incredibly well. This is by far one of the most talented teams we've fielded in a long-time and I'm sure they will give it their all come September," said Boyd.

"Everyone is really excited to be riding at Lakes, as it is one of the best tracks in the country and the design and layout of the track will allow for plenty of passing and action packed racing right across the week."

The day also saw the riders receive valuable information about nutrition and preparation, before heading out on track to work on a host of techniques, specific to the Lakes track, via the years of training and riding at the club by Team Coach, Boyd.

With the final additions being decided at the training day, the 2010 team to tackle this year's event will be made up of the following riders:

Hayden Matterson, Tyler Darby, Jy Roberts, Cody McMahon, Joshua Strenger, Blake Parker, Dylan Dukes, Egan Mastin, Dylan Heaton, Luke Arnold, Dylan Wills, Brooke Wicks, Tayla Jones, Blake Blackwell, Mitchell Nichols, Hayden Mellross, Cameron Taylor, Rhys Budd, Kye A'Hern, Tyler Bullen, Damon Collis, Jordan Hill, Jimmy Griffin, Jarrod Kelly, Jye Smith, Steven Simpson, Brodie Malouf, Meghan Rutledge, Alisha Barrett, Jay Wilson, Corey James, Ben George, Jake Vella, Luke Clout, Riley Dukes and Cooper Pozniak.

The 2010 Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championships kick-off on September 25 and will run through to October 2 at Lakes MBC in Lake Macquarie, NSW.
